Savoury, supple, succulent.
Owners of old Hill, the Gill family have been farming for thousands of years in the Punjab and when they moved to Canada in the 1980s continued to do so in the Okanagan Valley. Born in 2009, Gold Hill makes small lot estate wines from the Gill's 65-acres in the south Okanagan; 32 in Osoyoos and 24-acres on the Golden Mile (not part of the sub-GI).
Formed from the soils of Gold Hill's vineyard on the Golden Mile this Reserve Meritage blends classic Bordeaux varieties and is the estate's flagship wine.
A muddle of black fruits and green olives hazelnuts and and savoury spice, dark earth, graphite, and a hint of say sauce are expressed on the nose. It has a supple entry and succulent flavours of spiced oak, roasted meats, espresso and dark chocolate. A muscular red to serve with hard cheeses, dense proteins or hearty soups and stews.

Licorice root and sage, balsamic reduction, plum pudding, green olives toasted spice and salted bacon aromas lead to a mature palate. It's got good bones overall, freshness and a silky palate. Its definitely time to drink now and it trails flavours of burnt toffee, espresso and wild herbs.
